What is a shunt chimney renovation?
A shunt chimney renovation may be needed if you want a condensing boiler. This type of chimney renovation is the ideal solution for older blocks of flats which are fitted with a shunt system for discharging flue gases.
These types of shunt chimneys are not compatible with condensing boilers, which are now the new standard.
Miller Heating can provide you with a complete chimney renovation. This involves adapting your shunt chimney using the Combination Air Supply-Combustion Gas Discharge (CLV) principle. It means that condensing boilers can still be connected to the shunt chimney that we have adapted and removes the need to install a completely new chimney.
There are 4 steps to our process:
- Chimney survey: to get a clear idea of your current needs, we open your existing shunt chimney where necessary and possible. We look at whether the flue pipes are suitable for the chimney renovation and what exactly needs to be done.
- Personalised quotation: we use the results from our chimney survey to provide you with a detailed quotation. In this way, you get an overview of the overall cost, without any need to contract an external architect or a consultancy firm.
- Perform the work: we only use approved brands and high-quality materials. The work is carried out by our professionals who have the necessary experience and all of the required approval numbers.
- Finishing: we finish the job with our regular partner firms. Once we have completed the chimney renovation, we seal everything neatly, so all that it needs is to be plastered and painted.
